ABOUT FOOD DATES (more info)
  • Use by is about food safety - foods can be eaten until the use by date but not after and you must carefully follow storage instructions to ensure the use by date remains valid.
  • Best Before is about food quality. The food will be safe to eat after this date, as long the packaging isn't damaged and it is stored correctly. Taste and texture may not be as good.
  • Chilled food should be kept in a fridge below 5°C. Frozen at -18°C or below. There's some really useful info here.

Packs of delicious looking chocolate cookies are our tricky food this week - they've no allergen or ingredients listed on the packet or the box they came in so we can't help for those who have allergies or intolerance's. Why not share them with neighbours? It's always great to share the food-love around!

Well it's been another Boarbank reds day today so we've sent our grateful thanks to Sister Margaret for the lovely tomatoes. You've also got cooking apples picked by my own fair hands (along with 2 friends) - they came from a garden in Grange - we only dropped one on someone's head as we shook the tree! - they'll all need a wash before using.

Loaves were courtesy of the wonderful Fat Flour bakery - super thanks to Karen for those.

What a lovely summers day to receive such a huge bag of food. We've had apples, tomatoes and a massive marrow to share with you all, courtesy of Boarbank Hall - give 'em a wash before eating. We received Lucozade Revive drinks which were 'a bit mucky on top' so we cleaned them with sanitiser. We'd also recommend not drinking from the bottle - why not pour it into a champagne glass and pretend you're on your hols!
